Is central government refusing to organise the coming regional elections in France? Is this a denial of democracy or the fear of a disaster too close to the Presidential elections?

The President of the Republic wants to postpone June 2021’s regional elections until after the Presidential election in April 2022.
Is this for health reasons? No

• Town halls were able to open their polling stations without any problems for the second round of the municipal elections, even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. They know how to do this and they do it well

• The polling stations will be able to be kept safe in June (easy ventilation, queues outdoor possible if necessary and so on)
Is it because you can’t campaign because of Covid-19 ? No

• The regional elections which were scheduled for March have been postponed until June, giving more time to the campaign which, let’s remember, has been open since September, in accordance with electoral law. If candidates aren’t up and running, that’s down to them alone, not Covid-19

• Supposedly, it wouldn’t be possible to run a proper campaign. Maybe you wouldn’t be able to run an old fashioned style of campaign, but this is just showing a lack of inventiveness! Brittany My Life has been on the campaign trail and doing things in a new way since 22nd January. The very least we can do is to adapt to the health situation!
Is it for electoral reasons? Yes

It is to prevent President Macron’s party from taking a severe electoral beating before the Presidential elections
This may happen in Brittany in particular.
Is this why the president of the French Parliament, who is also a Breton MP, getting more worked up than is reasonable?

Let’s hope that the Parliament doesn’t allow itself to be put under pressure and that it will follow the clear recommendations by Jean Louis Debré to hold the regional elections in June, in the name of democracy quite simply
